Sugar cane and popular culture in Brazil

North East of Brazil, State of Pernambuco rural area of Recife. We are in the realm of cane sugar, in the vast checkerboard of farms cropped from colonial domination, made fertile by numerous African slaves. Today, the laborers, over harvesting of sugar cane, are forced to look for in a few cities that allow workers to survive, but also to have the resources to still be protagonists of the festivities, entertainment and rites in which live the various ancestral traditions, to the oldests ones: the cultures and religions that African slaves brought with them and that in time it merged with indigenous and European.
